Drunk driving slows down Loeb

Citroën C4 WRC

Sebastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena are set for their 100th WRC rally together at the upcoming Swedish Rally, after starting out together in 1999. Well, that is if they can get a hold of their car.

The duo’s car is stuck in Gothenburg on the southwest coast of Sweden, after the driver of the transport truck was caught with a blood alcohol level of .14. Naturally, he was not allowed to carry on. Thus, for the time being, the car is stuck on the pier in Gothenburg.

About the centennial, Loeb is less fussed:

“It’s a nice round figure, but it’s not that important to me. Our objective will be to try to win, which won’t be easy. For one thing, we will start the weekend running first on the road and that can often be a handicap in Sweden.”

As long as the car is stuck on the pier, I don’t think he needs to worry about being first on the road…though I’m sure they’ll work it out one way or another - unless the team feels like using this as an excuse to give someone else half a chance at scoring 10 points.
