Geneva: Maserati Chicane concept 2008
The Geneva Auto Show is just under a month away and one of the cars I am most excited about is the Chicane concept from Maserati. It is simply gobsmackingly beautiful and bold. To add to its attraction, it is designed by students from the renowned Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Italy. Like Ferraris, Maseratis are about passion and if there’s one thing I can imagine students at an Italian design institute have, it’s passion. In buckets.
The car is designed in a 2+2 format with a front-mounted engine, a V8 at that. While this is only a concept, it would not surprise me if details and shapes from this gorgeous super car shows up in the rumoured new entry-level car from Maserati.
IED has shown off cars at the Geneva Auto Show before, for the past four years to be exact. See a photo of the craziness on wheels they created last year, after the jump.
The 2007 graduating master’s students at IED presented this car as their final project at the Geneva Auto Show 2007, named beON and described as an “emotional hybrid”. I guess that is a fair description as my emotions towards this car do indeed come from various sources…
